I bump into this small shop in Yonge & Lawrence Area. Maiz Yonge a very spacious Latin restaurant that serves brunch on the weekend, but specializes in Arepas. I was fascinated by the rustic interior and minimal design of the space.
They offer a small menu, and everything looks delicious. I didn't order from the cocktail menu as I'm recovering from my drinking discretion last night. However, the cocktail menu was interesting.
Started the meal with a Churrolatte which is just Cafe con Leche with this cute like churros on top. Then I proceeded to have a Choriqueso which is a season ground pork with Oaxaca cheese and tortilla chips. It also came with three flavourful house-made sauces. The salsa had a nice kick but would prefer it to people to have it when you're dining there. The other two sauces were good, but that salsa was just perfect on everything.
Then I opted for the brunch in which they offer the "Huevos Rancheros". That runny sunny side yolk was perfect for me. Adding Cotija cheese with refrito beans, and house salad was just too good for this cold weather. just having this dish makes me feel like I'm in someone's home.
this was such a great find for me, and service was great. Wouldn't mind going back when I'm in the area for the platters.
